Welcome to The Hobby Cabinet — where there’s always room for one more hobby.
If you’ve ever bought supplies for a new hobby before you technically knew how to do the hobby, gotten completely obsessed with something for three weeks, or found yourself researching the difference between twelve nearly identical craft supplies at midnight, you’re in good company.
I created The Hobby Cabinet as a place to collect all the things I learn while making, building, growing, experimenting, and inevitably picking up yet another hobby.
Around here, you’ll find miniature kits, plants and terrariums, DIY projects, crafts, and whatever else has managed to earn a shelf in the cabinet.
But this isn’t a blog about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about figuring things out.
I want to know which supplies are actually worth buying, what I wish I’d known before starting, which shortcuts work, which ones absolutely do not, and whether you really need that specialty tool someone on the internet insists is essential.
Sometimes the answer is yes.
Frequently, the answer is you can probably make do with what you already have.
Hi, I’m Hailey.
I’m the hobby collector behind The Hobby Cabinet.
I love the process of starting with absolutely no idea what I’m doing and slowly learning enough to create something I’m genuinely proud of.
That also means I’ve purchased the wrong supplies, misunderstood instructions, restarted projects, killed plants, glued things to things they definitely weren’t supposed to be glued to, and spent far too much time researching extremely specific questions.
And those experiences are exactly what I want to share here.
When I find something that makes a hobby easier, cheaper, less intimidating, or simply more fun, it earns a place in The Hobby Cabinet.
